Model, actor, VJ, host, entrepreneur – Shruti Seth wears many hats and all of them with grace. Recently she starred in Disney Channel’s original series The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir and has hosted several Indian television shows including the Comedy Circus series. A fitness and travel enthusiast and also a much-treasured Just Herbs customer, Seth reveals the secret behind her skin that never fails to glow.
What does beauty mean to you?
Shruti Seth: Beauty to me means something that’s beyond the diktats of trends of the moment. Something that is eternal!
Is there any DIY beauty remedy which is a treasured family secret or has been passed on by your mum to you?
Shruti Seth: Our family favourite is the honey and lemon mask. Mix equal quantities of lemon juice and honey, and apply it all over the face. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off with cold water. This works as an instant glow provider. It’s a perfect pick-me-up for dull, dehydrated and tired skin.
Did being an actor change your skincare routine?
Shruti Seth: I use minimal makeup and hair products on a daily basis. Post-shoot I wipe off every speck of makeup from my face! I’m very particular about sleeping with a clean face every night. I hate makeup residue.
How do you cleanse your face to take the layers off?
Shruti Seth: I’ve been using eye makeup remover pads for years to clean out the toughest mascara. I wipe my face with micellar water and then wash it with a Just Herbs face wash.
Which has been that beauty tip that you would love to share with JH Beauty Community?
Shruti Seth: The makeup trick I learnt from my time on the sets is to highlight the eyes. They are windows to your soul.
What do you consider before trying a skincare product?
Shruti Seth: I don’t like a complicated skin regimen. How convenient it is to use determines the kind of products or brands I try. I also like to find out what goes inside my beauty products. It should be environmentally friendly. The more natural it is, the better I like it. I’m wary of using too many chemicals on my skin.
What about Just Herbs do you like?
Shruti Seth: I love the packaging, especially the limited-edition gift boxes. I find them very attractive. I have been using the Gotukola Indian Ginseng Rejuvenating Beauty Elixir and Kimsukadi Tail by Just Herbs for a few weeks now. I find that the products are light and easily absorbed into the skin. And they did make some remarkable changes to my skin.
If you had a genie to invent a skincare product for you, what would you want?
Shruti Seth: My dream beauty product will be something that gives me baby-soft skin. And it also protects my complexion from the harsh sun and environmental stresses and keeps it glowing permanently.
What’s your biggest beauty challenge?
Shruti Seth: My work requires me to travel and have erratic timings. Carrying all my stuff and being disciplined about my skin care is my biggest challenge.
